Fitness Profile: Master Trainer NYSC, Tier 3 Trainer Equinox Health Clubs, Group Fitness Instructor
Education: AFAA, ACE, Equinox Fitness Training Institute, Medical Exercise Specialist (MES)

Leslie Mebane has been a Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer for over 11 years. The stress of a dead end job and a revelation from a dying close friend pushed him into changing his 280lb stress eating and overindulging obese body into something else, going where he’s never been before on a physical level.
“Being a trainer was not the main idea, helping people like me that struggle with physical achievements was my motivation”.
Leslie uses the no nonsense “believe in what you don’t know till you try” method, using the clients desire to reach beyond their expectations realistically. I’ve trained people from 16 to 81 yrs old. The bodies are different but the “WOW I DID IT” is the same and that’s what everyone needs on a physical level. That always makes my day.
Leslie has won the National Bodybuilders Inc. Tri-State Bodybuilding Championship’s Heavy weight Division in March of 1999, five months before his 41st birthday and is still competing. After five surgeries in seven years, (double knee right leg, a reattached left pectoral, a reattached right bicep, and titanium reinforced shattered lower back) Leslie knows the unique position of starting over and over again and not accepting limitations.
Leslie has worked with some of the most brilliant Orthopedic Surgeons and Physical Therapists in sports medicine on a personal level. I’ve done Post Rehab on myself and many doctors that are weekend warriors and we’ve connected with an understanding of the amazing regeneration capabilities of the human body.
A student of Wing Chung Kung Fu and Chinese combat principles since 1986, Leslie has used the development of discipline and mental fortitude to go beyond “what you think you know” and give this attitude to his clients.
“We are designed to evolve, repair and regenerate, a fit body is just the residual effect of diet and activity”.
Leslie’s demonstrated his philosophy in 1994 when he introduced the Hard Core Training Program in Westchester and Greenwich, CT, as a compliment to aerobic training. Hard Core Training, as a class or one-on-one personal training was designed to enhance strength, endurance and flexibility. The program gives its students an added edge in competitive sports, and also works as a personal confidence builder.
An avid biker, in May 1996, Leslie was introduced to Spinning and was trained by Cary Bond, Master Instructor and Spinning Coordinator for all Equinox Health Clubs. He is currently a Master Spinner and has logged over 30,000 miles on the spinning bike.
The Equinox Fitness Institute, the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) the American Council on Exercise (A.C.E.), the Exercise Safety Association (E.S.A.) in Personal Training ,and the American Academy of Fitness Professionals (AAFP) as a Medical Exercise Specialist (M.E.S.) have all certified Leslie Mebane.
He has been involved in personal fitness since 1993 and was the first recipient of the Westchester Health & Fitness Trainer of the Year award recognizing excellence in service in 1995 and 1996 as well as the recipient of the Equinox Award for Excellence. For more than 15 years, he has been a student of Wing Chung kung fu and Chinese combat principles.
